Building Community Connection and Leadership through Voluntary Service

The Garden City Mosque is proud to launch the Empowering Toowoomba Youth programme, a unique opportunity for young people aged 12–25 to develop leadership skills, gain practical experience, and make a positive contribution to their community.

About the Program

Participants will:

✔ Complete 100 hours of structured community volunteering during the project
✔ Attend SIX high-value workshops on leadership, communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and employability 

✔ Receive mentoring from experienced community leaders 

✔ Participate in meaningful community projects 

✔ Build confidence and develop lifelong skills 

✔ Receive formal recognition of their achievements at an award ceremony

Please note: Detailed information about the workshops, including dates, times, and venues, will be provided after registrations have been processed. An orientation session for registered participants will be held in early August 2026, following the close of registrations on 31 July 2026. During the orientation, participants will take part in a youth-led planning session to identify practical and achievable community service projects for their volunteering activities. Participants will work in teams to co-design their volunteer projects, set goals, and plan activities with support from mentors and the project team. As this is an extracurricular program, all workshops, meetings, and volunteering activities will be scheduled outside school, TAFE, and university hours to ensure they do not interfere with participants' academic commitments.
