Imam Dr Mohammad Aminul Islam Azhari
Imam Dr Mohammad Aminul Islam Azhari is an esteemed Islamic scholar and Hafiz-e-Quran, currently serving as the Imam and Khatib of the Garden City Mosque in Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia, since March 2022. Originally from Bangladesh, Dr. Aminul is a graduate of Egypt's prestigious Al-Azhar University and specializes in Islam and comparative religion.
Prior to his studies abroad, he served as the district director of the Ta’limul Quran Foundation in Bangladesh, overseeing 126 teachers. His academic journey took him to Malaysia, where he earned his Master’s and PhD from the International Islamic University of Malaysia. While in Malaysia, he worked closely with renowned scholar Dr. Zakir Naik and served as the Head of Islamic Studies at ADNI Islamic School.
Dr Aminul has led congregations and shared his deep knowledge of Islam across multiple countries, with past roles including Imam of the Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Mosque at the International Islamic University of Malaysia. Passionate about education and religious leadership, Dr. Aminul continues to inspire the Muslim community in Toowoomba.
