Muslims in Toowoomba took the challenge to build a proper Mosque will all facilities under one roof instead of fixing the burnt old church building.
After consulting Town Planner, we had to conduct surveys, and appoint architect for preparing drawings for an extended Mosque to fit 500 worshippers at a time. Our Development Application was finally approved by the TRC after our appeal to remove some of the unacceptable conditions on the limit of number of users and hours of operation.
In 2018 the First Stage of the rebuilding work started for the lock-up stage, and the building was completed in 2019 but it had nothing inside. In the Second Stage the internal fitting work started in July 2020. On completion of this Second Stage, we plan to move to the Third/Final Stage of 56 car parking, one retaining wall, two driveways, fencing and landscaping.
On completion of the rebuilding, the mezzanine level will be dedicated to women worshippers fitting about 100 sisters.
